Get to Know Us
Laurel Grove Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1982 by a group of community members dedicated to providing safety services to their community. Originally, the department had a brush truck and a pumper/tanker and consisted of sixteen fire fighters, nine board members, and a ladies auxiliary.
In 1992, Laurel Grove Volunteer Fire Department took on an extra role and created an EMS program. At this time, Fire and Rescue, Inc was added to its name. An ambulance was purchased and nine firefighters were trained as Emergency Medical Technicians. A select few were trained as Cardiac Technicians and Paramedics in order to provide a higher level of care.
In 1995, the department built a new modern fire station to better meet the community needs. Two ambulances were added to the fleet in order to keep up with the amount of medical calls the department was responding to. After many years of serving the community in an EMS role, the department decided to eliminate the EMS program in order to focus on the fire fighting mission.
Laurel Grove Volunteer Fire & Rescue continues in its commitment to answering the calls for help. The department adjusts and grows to meet the current needs of the community. With the help of the community and its fundraising events, it will continue to purchase equipment and fire apparatus that enhance its capabilities and ensure it will be successful carrying out its mission.
